The Theme
The theme was Gold mining. Go figure. We had a beautiful topper cake with a small gold pan complete with spilling gold nuggets. If you notice, all the cupcakes are in gold pans. I have to say it turned out cute. The wedding was at Wyldewood Winery in
We used Standard Cakes out of Haysville. I used regular flower pots and George spayed the rims gold and we put styrofoam ball in them. Our cake guy, Marvin, then made beautiful cupcakes that looked like flowers and attached them with toothpicks to the ball making them look like potted flowers. We had an old flower stand George spay painted gold and the cake decorator used his creative flare and set up the table.

The center pieces
These are the center pieces.
They're a pick and shovel. Maybe
a little different from the universal gold mining pick and shovel, but all I
had to work with were garden tools. The
best way to get a guy on board with wedding details is make it about their
passion. George made all the bases out
of wood. He spay painted them with brown
paint to seal the wood. After spending
hours cutting and painting and sanding he then spent more hours with the
finishing touches. He applied a coat of
stone wash to give a sandy rough look.
Then he spayed them black and put some gold glitter. George calls it my idea and his
creation. He did good.

Gold and Beautiful
We only had one flower arrangement and of course it was
gold. We had this on our gift
table. We sprinkled the table with
diamond like beads and the kids loved salting their candy bags. Thank you all for your gifts and gift
cards. We are using our gift cards on
our Alaskan vacation and several of the gifts are perfect for our 5th
wheel. It meant so much to have everyone
there.

Let's Smash...I mean eat some cake
George and I discussed the cake ritual. Since we had cupcakes we didn't have to cut
any cake. We agreed we were NOT going to
do any cake smashing. It was me, I admit
it. I saw all the cameras in front of us
and something just came over me. It was
if I had no choice. I sized up the
situation and saw that if George would just open his mouth a little wider, this
cupcake would fit in it. Well I was a
little shy of a good fit so I decided to push it in with my hand. George on the other hand was going to play by
the rules... that is until I smooshed it.
He said later he saw that look in my eye and knew it was coming but he
decided to be patient and wait. He said
he knew he could be quick enough to get me.
after all, he is an old basketball star. And get me he did.

All the Gold...In California
Our son in law, Jason, took an opportunity to do some karaoke. I was surprised he could sing so well. When they played the song, All The Gold in California , he got George to sing along. If you look you can see George's grandson, Grant, joining in. He looks just like George when he was young and is already a good little gold panner.
Rock Me Mama
This is our son in law, Jason, providing some great entertainment singing ROCK ME MAMA. You can see where the kids get their talent. I am so lucky to marry into this family.
Our Country music star
Here's Kynlee singing a popular country music song. My only regret is I didn't get the whole thing. I cut the recording just before the "chew tobacco, chew tobacco, chew tobacco spit." Oh how I wish I would have gotten the whole thing. It was pretty entertaining.

THE END
There's no better way to say The End than than with this adorable pic. Kynlee gave it her all to make it a wonderful and memorable night for us.
